childhood fantasy of becoming a mermaid while playing in the pool would actually come true [like this]. To have Rob directing me and being such a motivating force on this picture was truly an honor,

and it was thrilling to play those feelings." Oscar nominee for Mary Poppins Returns, Marshall, said, "I have a unique relationship with this film. I don't know if you were around in 1989,

but there was a lot of buzz about the return of musicals. It was animated, but the constant sound of singing was distracting. The film is a remake of the studio's 1989 animated blockbuster,

which was in turn based on a Hans Christian Andersen tale. Clements and John Musker's original film, written and directed by Clements, became an instant classic upon its release,

grossing over $211 million worldwide and winning Academy Awards for Best Music, Original Score, and Best Music, Original Song, as well as two Golden Globes, a Grammy, and other honors.

Halle Bailey will play Ariel; Melissa McCarthy will play Ursula; Jonah Hauer-King will play Prince Eric; and Javier Bardem will play King Triton in this new adaptation written by David Magee

and Jane Goldman. The cast also includes Daveed Diggs, Jude Akuwudike, Lorena Andrea, Kajsa Mohammar, Jacob Trembaly, and Awkwafina, in addition to Jessica Alexander and Noma Dumezweni.
