Apple has just announced that the public release of iOS 16 and watchOS 9 for all iPhone and Apple Watch devices is scheduled for Monday, September 12.


‌iOS 16‌ was first previewed by Apple in June, and over the last several months, it has undergone beta testing with app developers and members of the public beta program.


The Lock Screen in iOS 16 has been reimagined to allow for greater personalization, and the new version of the operating system also allows users to temporarily alter iMessages.


The new Lock Screen provides users with the option to personalise the look of the screen to their liking.


Customers can choose different fonts and colors for the clock, add widgets, add new wallpapers with depth effects, and more.


Besides the newly redesigned Lock Screen, Apple has also brought highly requested features to the Messages app


iOS 16 users can amend and unsend messages up to 15 minutes after sending them. iOS 16 improves SharePlay and Messages collaboration.


Apple is also upgrading Mail and Safari by introducing undo and schedule send for emails, Shared Tab Groups, Safari Passkeys. Apple Maps adds multi-stop navigation and transport card functionality.
