The U.S. beat Trevor Immelman's International team 4-1 in foursomes (alternate shot) play on the opening day of the 2022 Presidents Cup.

If the black and gold are going to cause harm, it will be in a four ball format that has been friendly to the International side.

Five additional matches will be played at Quail Hollow Golf Club on Friday as the International team tries to recoup some ground against Davis Love III's side.

Love must sit two top-25 players each of the first two days and four on Saturday. After sitting on Thursday, Billy Horschel and Kevin Kisner will play together for the first time as pros on Friday.

Immelman will play Sebastian Munoz and Christiaan Bezuidenhout, both of whom saw Thursday's matches.

Other U.S. matchups don't offer many shocks. Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele are the two most reliable partnerships.

returning Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns will try to seek retribution after Thursday's loss. Kisner replaces Collin Morikawa and plays with Cameron Young, while Horschel joins Max Homa.

International changed everything. Immelman's Day 2 partnerships are different from Day 1, as he tries to give his team momentum heading into the weekend.
