This is similar to what Taylor Swift accomplished in 2021 when she became the first female musician to win album of the year three times at the Grammy Awards. However, Swift is the first artist,
regardless of gender, to do this. Swift now has a total of 14 Video Music Awards, four behind Beyoncé (29), Madonna (20), and Lady Gaga (21), thanks to these three wins (18). Yep,
female solo musicians are the top four winners of all time.Jack Harlow took home four trophies in total two of which were for technical achievements. Both Lil Nas X and Harry Styles won three trophies
One award went to Nicki Minaj, one to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and one to Lisa of BLACKPINK.The evening had some genuine surprises, like when Lisa beat BTS for best K-pop and Anitta beat Bad Bunny
The show was "anchored" by LL Cool J, Minaj, and Harlow. The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award was given to Minaj. They gave the Global Icon Award to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Swift also took up the trophy for best direction for the second time, having done so for "The Man" two years ago. Swift is only the second woman to win the award twice, following Valerie Faris,
Only two other people have won best director twice for their own work on music videos, and both of them are Swift. Lamar won for his work as a co-director on the films Alright(2015) & Hummle(2017).
